Aspire Odyssey Mini Kit Review
If you’re looking for a simple box mod that is packed with a lot of user-friendly features, then give the Aspire Odyssey Mini kit a look. It comes as part of the Mini Quest kit and includes a Pegasus Mini mod and a Triton Mini tank.
The kit comes in a a black cardboard box. Once you open it up, you’ll see that you get an Aspire Triton mini tank, a pre-installed 1.8 ohm Clapton coil, a Pegasus mini mod, a 1.2 ohm Kanthal BVC coil, an Ni200 0.15 ohm coil, an extra glass tube, a user manual, and a USB cord. The Pegasus mod is a scaled-down version of the famous Odyssey. A couple of design tweaks were made to accommodate the size. For instance, the Odyssey’s control wheel was changed to the traditional up and down buttons below the screen. Its fire button is made from metal, decorated with bezel around.
The front panel is black plastic with a clear window over the screen. The bottom area is where a micro-USB port is located. The top and bottom have satin silver finish. Appearance-wise, the Odyssey mini is well assembled with good attention to detail. Yes, it is small but it perfectly fits in your hand.
In terms of functionality, the Pegasus mini has two modes to offer – variable power and temperature control. Now how to use this device. To lock, just give the fire button five rapid clicks. And when it goes to sleep in a minute or two of non-use, three quick clicks will wake it up and five more to unlock it.
When you switch the mod on or you put in a new atomizer, the Pegasus mod will prompt a message asking if this is a new atomizer. If you select “No”, all your previous settings will be kept. But if you choose “Yes”, it will kind what type of atomizers you are currently using. There will be three options available: “Ka” for Kanthal, “Ni” for nickel, and “Ti” for titanium.
If you pick “Ka”, it switches into voltage wattage (VW) mod and will ask you a final choice between “Regulated” (a standard VW mode) and “Bypass” (turns the device into a mech mod). As for the other two atomizer options, both nickel and titanium are temperature control modes. Whichever you choose, you will then get a choice of of (degree Fahrenheit) or C (degree Celcius). In both modes, the mod adjusts in 1 degree increments (P.S. Most TC mods work in 5- or 10-degree increments). Nevertheless, this means you can set your favorite temperature more accurately. The Pegasus Mini mod basically has all the features you need, unless you plan to use stainless steel coils or intend to have super cloud chasing power.
The Pegasus mod also has an outstanding OLED screen display. It is bright and bold, and it won’t give you a hard time reading the data. Data included are the temperature or wattage reading (takes nearly half of the screen), battery charge indicator, atomizer resistance, and voltage. It also automatically flips so it is always on the right side.
The kit though does not come with a built-in battery, but it is powered with a single external 18650 battery that is capable of at least 25 amps continuous discharge. It can be recharged via a micro-USB port, which also acts as a pass-through. It’s a 1A charging circuit, so your 2,100 mAh battery will be fully charged in about three hours. But if you’re just like me who is not fond of pass-through, you can take the battery out and charge it externally.
I admit the Aspire Odyssey Kit is not cheap, but it is definitely worth the price. For something that is small but fairly powerful and user-friendly, this device sure is made with quality in mind. This is definitely perfect for those looking for their first temperature control mod.
